Bicycle Tasmania Agenda for Ordinary Monthly Meeting 2007/03/15 1 Present 2 Apologies Linda Baldock, Richard Nichols. 3 Confirmation of Minutes of Last Meeting 4 Correspondence Incoming 4.1 Email from Andrew Beltz to Tim regards road racers & training groups on Intercity Cycleway in relationship to pedestrian hazard. 5 Correspondence Outgoing 5.1 6 Committee and Other Reports 6.1 Treasurers Report 6.2 Kingborough BUG Richard - The Bike Week Treasure Hunt held last Saturday was a success with 37 competitors. This year the format was completely changed to allow a more family friendly event. This was achieved with over half the attendees being under the age of 16 years. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the event and I believe that the same format could be used next year with just a change in the course. 6.3 Hobart BUG 6.4 CyclingSouth 6.5 Tasmanian Bike Council 6.6 Web Site – Andrew Total web site hits: Feb:4706 Jan:4731 Nov:5196 Dec:4979 6.7 Membership 6.8 Social Rides 7 Business Arising 7.1 BikeWeek 7.2 Tasman Bridge Accidents 8 Action Summary 9 New business 9.1 BV On 26th February BV sent an email to Tasmanian cyclists on their email list like (edited) “…Dear @@@ Isn't it great to see the lanes on Argyle St! We are going to do our best to make sure that they are the first of many... When these lanes have bedded down, we will shift our attention to the one way section of Argyle. Sandy Bay Road and bike lanes feeding the intercity bikeway are also on the list...” Andrew - There is no credit given to CyclingSouth, HCC, DIER or BT in their role in getting this. Richard - I feel at this point in time we need to seriously tackle a very unpopular subject, Bicycle Victoria,. as they are making moves into Tasmania to increase their membership, I feel we should seriously look at forming an association with them, because if we don't they are simply going to walk all over us, simply because of their size and power. By forming an association now I believe we could both benefit, BT will have much more power and greater facilities to call on, and BV gets the benefit of our expertise and the membership base they desire. The most important outcome will be that ALL Tasmanian cyclists could benefit and we would have that Statewide Association that is needed to gain funds to make the improvements to cycling that are so desperately needed throughout the state. 9.2 Subscription to Australian Cyclist Adrian as BFA rep used to get a free copy. This is no longer the case. We have been offered a $30 PA subscription. 10 Meeting Finished At @.@@pm. 11 Next Meeting 12 Items Not Discussed
