This year the format was completely changed to allow a more family friendly event. This was achieved with over half the attendees being under the age of 16 years. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the event and I believe that the same format could be used next year with just a change in the course. 7.3 Hobart BUG Ambrose looked at new track to Junction Hut on 8th March. No Sunday ride as no offers to lead. 7.10 Statewide Representitive Body Planning meeting moved from 9th March to 3rd April. 8 Business Arising 8.1 BV On 26th February BV sent an email to Tasmanian cyclists on their email list like (edited) “…Dear @@@ Isn't it great to see the lanes on Argyle St! We are going to do our best to make sure that they are the first of many... When these lanes have bedded down, we will shift our attention to the one way section of Argyle. Sandy Bay Road and bike lanes feeding the intercity bikeway are also on the list...” Andrew - There is no credit given to CyclingSouth, HCC, DIER or BT in their role in getting this. Richard - I feel at this point in time we need to seriously tackle a very unpopular subject, Bicycle Victoria,. as they are making moves into Tasmania to increase their membership, I feel we should seriously look at forming an association with them, because if we don't they are simply going to walk all over us, simply because of their size and power. By forming an association now I believe we could both benefit, BT will have much more power and greater facilities to call on, and BV gets the benefit of our expertise and the membership base they desire. The most important outcome will be that ALL Tasmanian cyclists could benefit and we would have that Statewide Association that is needed to gain funds to make the improvements to cycling that are so desperately needed throughout the state. Other members present disagreed. 8.2 Subscription to Australian Cyclist Adrian as BFA rep used to get a free copy. This is no longer the case. We have been offered a $30 PA subscription. 9 Meeting Finished At 7.30pm. 10 Next Meeting The next meeting will be held at the Environment Centre, 102 Bathurst Street at 5.30pm on Thursday 19th April. 11 Items Not Discussed None.
