Hobart Rivulet History Tour 2010 Wednesday 10th March

This ride back into history follows the Hobart Rivulet along its upper industrial section above Molle Street, and which area predates well known historical areas such as Battery Point by many years. The top section of the Hobart Rivulet in the early 1800s has been described as the Silicon Valley of Tasmania and therefore Australia as a whole. The natural resource making this possible was the water of the Rivulet to drive corn mills and facilitate the working of woolen mills, saw mills, tanneries, breweries, distilleries and a host of other manufacturing enterprises such as those centered around the Female Factory.

A copy of the historical notes will be provided or can be obtained here.

Ride starts: 5:30 pm
