Subject: South Australia cuts cycling funding by 50%

The South Australian Government has halved the annual budget of $2million of Bike South (cycle unit of Transport SA) by half which is irresponsible and short-sighted. At a time when Australia is facing increasing costs from health problems caused by sedentary lifestyles the government should be boosting funding for cycling and make it safer on our roads.

It is inconceivable for a state that reaped the financial rewards from the hugely successful Tour Downunder to scrimp on funding for people who want to emulate their heroes and ride their bikes for a healthier lifestyle.
