Cycleway Extension, Please

Lots of the track has been pulled up as part of the Derwent Park stormwater project.

It looks like you should be right to grade it, roll it, then roll some smaller gravel on top to get quite a nice gravel path.
There is a bridge over the Brooker Highway (thanks Google streetview for the picture).

This link would make it a lot easier to get over the Brooker Highway when not driving. You already see people walking and riding along the old rail line, let's make it official.
Hopefully it's on Glenorchy Council's 'things to do' list.

The extension is on Glenorchy Council's list! It’s in the Hobart Regional Arterial Bike Network Plan and also in BT’s Healthy Connections document.

Cycling South also says 'GCC had discussions with TasRail about formalising a track but no success.The route connects the Cycleway to Moonah Primary School, sports ovals and an informal walking track around Prince of Wales Bay. The grade-separated crossing over the Brooker Hwy is another bonus and there’s potential to extend it to Giblin Reserve. It is already informally used.'

    It could perhaps go all the way to Nyrstar, in the way that the little extension at Claremont goes to Cadbury. That would provide good infrastructure to encourage Nyrstar employees to ride to work. Also would provide an ‘out’ from Lutana from anyone trapped that side of the Brooker.
    Maybe also eventual linkage riverside or via Risdon Rd through to Cornelian Bay and then joining up with cycleway again.
