However Ron is confident that if BT can provide a list of dates for public events that a better deal can be obtained. The meeting decided that a calendar with one public ride per month should be presented to Ron. 7.3 Report on BFA meeting in Sydney David attended BFA meeting and nominated himself on committee. BFA fees are due on 1st December. Rod Katz is still president. 8 Committee and Other Reports 8.1 Brighton BUG No meeting. Richard repoted Kim Stansfield no longer at council. No ongoing BUG. 8.2 Kingborough BUG Richard reported that BUG are preparing maps for cycle tourism, school routes, commuting. 8.3 Clarence BUG No meeting. 8.4 Glenorchy BUG No meeting? 8.5 Hobart BUG Ambrose attended Geoff Gilmour presentation of Sullivans Cove Waterfront Authority. 8.6 CyclingSouth Tim reported Glenorchy office now open. Successful xmas BBQ. No mention of BikeWeek? 8.7 Web Site Andrew reported total web site hits for month: 3,877 per day: 113 (November 4,400 October: 6,800 September: 10,800). No explanation of why numbers have been declining. 8.8 Membership David reported 6 renewals since last meeting; 39 single + 4 concession + 24 family + 3 corporate = 70 total; 24 complementary, 47 expired. Letters to members necessary in January for new insurance. ACTION Tim, David, Stuart: to meet in January to organise letters and membership form. ACTION Tim: to set date? and find out RideIt details. CA membership year actually starts in November. 8.9 National Cycling Strategy Workshop Tim attended; approx. 12 people; considered good turnout by organisers; David Sinclair (police) stated “…right of cyclists to ride on every road…” 9 New business 9.1 Spoke and Future Direction Tim reported that John would produce next Spoke in January. Is considering e-newsletter every month, with Spoke every quarter. The meeting decided that current system of Spoke delayed by month on web was ok. Questionnaire to be sent to members regarding email-only version. ACTION David: to send BFA report to John. 9.2 Commitment By Members To Run Rides/Events Tim as is there a commitment by (active) members to run rides/events in new calendar. Tim is the only one to express interest/ commitment to date. We need more as well as ideas for rides/events. Suggestions included advertising in Mercury community diary; regular last Sunday of the month ride except for December/ January. Rides targeted at beginners; cruisy/ simple rides; possibly incorporate maintenance and cycling technique discussion. ACTION Richard: to approach Linda and Tony of SCTC before end of January. ACTION Andrew: to put calendar on website after confirmation with CA/ Ron. 9.3 Glenorchy Bike Park Rep Luke Chiu, Environmental Consultant, Unitas has asked whether anyone is interested in representing BT on the new Glenorchy Bike Park committee. 10 Meeting Finished At 7.30pm. 11 Next Meeting Will be held at the Environment Centre, 102 Bathurst Street at 5.30pm on Thursday 17th February (no January meeting). 12 Items Not Discussed 12.1
