Refer para 10.5. 7 Correspondence Outgoing 7.1 Email from Tim to Graham Fredericks (CA) regards whom to pay fees to; what membership details they require; free goodies. 8 Business Arising 8.1 Treasurers Report Stuart reported balance up to 30th April as $1222.30 including all unpaid cheques. 8.2 Stickers Andrew reported quote from Abel Labels of approximately $340 for 500 stickers with same dimensions as previous batch. This is roughly same price as paid last time. David suggested the maximum width of the sticker should be the same as the width of an A4 page - 210 mm. The maximum height should be less than 1/3 of an A4 page. Suggest 90 mm maximum. Suggest we get 200 mm or 205 mm stickers. As for the slogan, try these out: · save fuel - ride a bike · give a cyclist a metre · save money while you exercise - ride a bike · pedal power not petrol power · save the environment - ride a bike The stickers should include the BT web address and PO box in small letters, and also the BT logo. The logo should be as large as possible. Tony showed a mock up sticker with the slogan “A Fair Go For Cyclists”. Wayne didn’t go for the slogan. Members agreed previous sticker contained too much detail. ACTION Andrew: ask for suggestions via the website. 9 Committee and Other Reports 9.1 Kingborough BUG Richard reported on Kingborough bike plan; 8 members attending each meeting; discussed Whitewater plan; problems with Whitewater path under bridge. 9.2 Glenorchy Mountain Bike Park Richard reported on ongoing huge turnout (30..40 each weekend); downhill & 4 cross track complete; starting X country track & jumps. 9.3 Hobart BUG Ambrose reported had been no meeting, but had been bike ride from Brooker Hwy through to Lenah Valley investigating possible new cycling route. 9.4 CyclingSouth No report. 9.5 Web Site Andrew reported total web site hits for month: 5,428 per day: 194 (April 6,860 March 5,390 February 6,008 December 3,877). 9.6 Membership David reported currently have 24 Complementary members, 2 Corporate members and 58 Ordinary members. The 58 Ordinary members are broken down as 15 Single, 7 Single Concession, 36 Family (this includes partners and children), 0 Family Concession. There are 74 expired Ordinary Members, and 5 expired Corporate Members. 9.7 Social Rides Tim reported hadn’t been anyone enquire about Risdon Brook Dam ride. Next ride is being led by Tim to Bruny Island on 29th May. ACTION members: require leader for June social ride. 10 New business 10.1 Spoke Editorship Tony will be unable to edit the June Spoke. No response. 10.2 Kingborough Traffic Survey Andrew noted from Kingborough Newsletter #16 May 2005 – discussion points - Kingston Bypass Action Group, Metro Part and Ride, Whitewater Creek walking track upgrade. 10.3 Draft National Cycling Strategy “Following a large number of responses towards the end of the consultation period, the deadline for comments on the Draft National Cycling Strategy has been extended. Comments are now due by 5pm, Monday 23 May 2005. The survey form can be accessed via the Australian Bicycle Council Website at http://www.abc.dotars.gov.au/” 10.4 BFA National Conference - Brisbane 2005 “BFA Connecting Cycling Conference 2005 - Planning for Healthy Communities. The Bicycle Federation of Australia (BFA) is running a National Cycling Conference from Wednesday 5th to Saturday 8th October at City Hall, Brisbane, Queensland. Conference topics will include: *Innovative planning to create healthy environments, *Best practice in engineering for cycling facilities, *Health & environmental benefits of cycling and walking, *Methods of increasing cycling and walking.” – Peter Strang. 10.5 CycleSafe Insurance Policies Stuart reported a phone call from Bicycle Victoria/ CycleSafe that members that had taken out CycleSafe personal accident insurance policies haven’t been insured due to price rise, but which CycleSafe had neglected to bring to anyone’s attention (had been on BV website). 11 people are affected.
