We are going to Flinders for around a week from Sat September 16. Riding about 25-40km per day and camping en route. Families with children particularly welcome. Bikes can go to Flinders on the barge from Bridport with adult passengers @ approx $87. A long and at times rough trip. We will probably have mego across on hte barge with bikes and Helen and Oscar flying from Launceston or by charter flight from Bridport (cheaper) if we can get enough people interested. Another possible day ride in the next three months if you want to put another one in is along the bike track to the Moorilla Museum of Antiquities at Berriedale. Nice spots to have picnics outside and interesting display. I am happy to be ride co-ordinator for both these if you would like them in the calendar. The Moorilla Museum closes in three months for redevelopment which will take three years. Maybe Saturday or Sunday the 8th or 9th of April might suit that ride., or May 13 or 14. Let me know if you would like these on the calendar." ACTION Andew: highlight next BT social ride is on 7th May instead of 30th April. ACTION Andew: add 14th May to event calendar - bike track to the Moorilla Museum. ACTION Tony: add 14th May to event calendar - bike track to the Moorilla Museum. ACTION David: fill in & return insurance form to CycleCover. 8.2 9 New business 9.1 Bicycle Facilities Workshop Tim has been talking to Mary about this, see attached doc, I am proposing that BT fund this - approx $800. Motion proposed: David. Seconded: Patsy. Carried. 9.2 Volunteer Recognition Program David suggested he & Ambrose attend. ACTION David: fill in & return Volunteer Recognition Program form. 9.3 State Gov on cycling matters particularly SBAC Tim - BT should start moving the State Gov on cycling matters particularly SBAC. Suggest Dave writes letter to Minister Brian Green asking some pertinent questions. Could also write to Jim Cox Sport and Recreation. Patsy suggested raising points on bike lanes, public transport (eg ferry), 4 car lanes on bridge with 1/2 lane each side for cyclists and pedestrians ACTION everyone: send suggested points to be raised on cycling matters particularly SBAC to David. ACTION David: collate points raised on cycling matters particularly SBAC & send letters to Minister Brian Green & Jim Cox, Sport and Recreation. 9.4 What are going to spend our bike week income on? Tim asked "How much income did we make from BikeWeek & how much are we giving to CyclingSouth?" Funding a Bike Breakfast around National Ride to Work Day Oct 4th? And might be work mentioning this RIDE OF SILENCE May 17 is the date for the international Ride of Silence, being held to commemorate cyclists who have been injured or killed while bicycling on public roadways. So far, more than a hundred rides are slated for thirty-seven states and several foreign countries. Visit this website to see if there's a ride near you; if not, you'll have the opportunity to organize your own ride: http://www.rideofsilence.org ACTION Andew: send email to Mary that BT has agreed to fund a Bike Breakfast around National Ride to Work Day Oct 4th. ACTION Andew: add May 17 International Ride of Silence http://www.rideofsilence.org to website & events & pass details to Mary. Tim hasn't been able to get hold of Mary to get a figure on our income for Bike Week but it will be over $1000, possibly nearly $1500. My pitch for spending it would be a BT banner like CyclingSouth's (a guess $500?), the Infrastructure Workshop ($800) and funding a Bike Breakfast in Oct during the week of National Ride to Work Day ($200 -$500). This depends on how lavish the event is, type of food, hire of tent or Mawson Pavilion etc. TBC may have some money to assist with this. Meeting agreed getting Dave Ross for BT banner would be good support for corporate member. ACTION Tim: liase with Mary & report back on BT income from Bike Week. ACTION Tim: liase with Mary on Infrastructure Workshop with BT to fund up to $800. 9.5 Salamanca 6 Hour Andrew reported on the BT entry - 8 riders + Tony as team manager for 30th April. Made possible through new BT public liability insurance. ACTION David: organise table and people to man the table during S6H from 9.30am to 4pm if possible, organise posters, forms etc. with Tim. David will setup before 9.30 and return after 5.30. ACTION Andew: place Salamanca 6 Hour details on website. 9.6 New Car Parking Patsy discussed that HCC are proposing new car parking facilities. David suggested BT should write submission that bike lockers are included and/ or using revenue to fund alternative transport options. 9.7 Spoke ACTION Andew: send email containing link to latest Spoke separate from monthly meeting reminder email so more obvious to people. 10 Meeting Finished At 6.45pm. 11 Next Meeting Will be held at the Environment Centre, 102 Bathurst Street at 5.30pm on Thursday 18th May. 12 Items Not Discussed None.
