From the wharf to the dirt road, also some new signs and a memorial mention of Kate at the Council meeting. 8 Business Arising 8.1 Kate Tamayo Ken White suggested "Should their be some way of remembering Kate a possible and straight forward way would be to name an annual event in her honour or seek out a feature such as a road, a circuit or such that may require a name in the future. This would have to be an official name as put to the Nomenclature Board." Need suggestions regards CPF funding offer (maybe $500) – is still open and should be followed up. 8.2 National Ride to Work Day - 4th October Tim reported Tasmanian Bicycle Council may also be able help financially. 8.3 Bicycle Tasmania Big Ride - 8th October Tim has created a sample online SurveyMonkey survey form for further discussion. The meeting finalized the name as "Bicycle Tasmania Big Ride". Mary will be including ride details in CyclingSouth newsletter email for 700+ recipients. Ride will start from Dhru Point 9am. BT members free, pre-registrations $10, on-day-registrations $15 (same as BikeWeek Century Ride). Anyone signing up for BT membership on the day will have membership through to end of 2007. Decided food/ catering to be at Dhru Point at ride end instead of ½ way to simplify logistics. Tim presented sample A3 poster – quantity 1 to 10 = $3.50 each, > 10 = $3.10 each ACTION Tim & Andrew: finalize BT Big Ride online SurveyMonkey survey and add BT home page link before next meeting. ACTION Tim: add question to BT Big Ride survey regards anyone needing transport from Hobart to Margate. 8.4 Cycle Safe Insurance It appears that Cycle Safe have again "lost" one of our cheques, and as always, being totally unresponsive in replying to emails and returning phone calls. The lost cheque was for payment of a number of policies, and Stuart now has to ring up each of the members, explain the situation & see what they want to do. We discussed this issue at the May monthly meeting. Stuart and Andrew propose we put all the details on our web site for how members can take out a Cycle Safe personal accident insurance policy, but BT does not get involved in handling the money in future. Meeting agreed this would be a better way to go in future. Stuart reported he's made contact with all 6 affected members regards the mixup. ACTION Tim: find BV CycleSafe membership form – is it available online? ACTION exec: prepare "welcome to BT" sheet to be included with each letter to new BT members – personal accident insurance options, BT member benefits, what membership fee covers in terms of insurance, social rides etc. 9 New business 9.1 Bendigo Bank Andrew reported we have removed Kate Tamayo & Geraldine Lum as signatories; we need to add David on his return. Internet access has been organised. We will then have 4 signatories; with any 2 to sign: Andrew, Tim, Stuart, David. ACTION Andrew & David: organise David as Bendigo Bank signatory. 9.2 Headed Note Paper and Envelopes Tim discussed improving BT image ACTION Tim: get some costings on Headed Note Paper and Envelopes by next meeting. 9.3 BikeVic Ride Tim reported he got a phone call from the Great Tas Ride the other day, extolling the virtues of ride and how BT can be involved including the fact that they are offering 200 free bikes to Tas residents to sign up for the ride and perhaps we would like to promote such a generous offer. 9.4 BFA Local Government Roads to Recovery Campaign "…Now it's over to BFA groups to inform Bicycle User Groups and encourage them all to put pressure on their local government. To help BUGs follow up, here is a sample letter to their council that BUGs can use or modify. They can find the $ their council receives at the CPF web page on the link above…" 9.5 BikeWeek 2007 Confirmed with CyclingSouth that BT will again run the Century Ride and Tour de Femme. CyclingSouth has asked whether BT want to run the Half Century Ride. Tim pointed out this would require little extra signage as using the same route as Century Ride. CyclingSouth asked permission to use BT as "conduit" for BikeWeek funding grant as needs to be state level organisation – will be asking for as much as $5K. ACTION Tim: confirm permission to use BT as "conduit" for BikeWeek funding grant with David. 9.6 Action Items Andrew proposed the idea of having "action items from last meeting" as an agenda item, because quite a few items get actioned each month, but then some get forgotten. Was thinking as having as 1st para in business arising. Meeting agreed. 9.7 Spoke Spoke is very late getting out. Wayne reported the photos looked very poor after being photocopied (generally very dark and no contrast), and the 1/3 folds for final page were not correctly laid out. Andrew – we should take more notice of this in future as lots of past editions have been similar. ACTION Andrew: improve Spoke photos & final page layout for photocopying; Andy to re-photocopy; Wayne & Diane to re-fold. 9.8 New Treasurer Stuart will be retiring at the next AGM after two years service so we need to start looking for a replacement. 10 Meeting Finished At 6.45pm. 11 Next Meeting Will be held at the Environment Centre, 102 Bathurst Street at 5.30pm on Thursday 17th August. 12 Items Not Discussed None.
