KBUG decided at their last meeting they didn't have the resources to deal with the issue, and wondered whether BT does? 9 New business 9.1 Insurance Tim – "Bicycle SA now includes personal accident cover as an integral part of their membership fees for $75 individual $105 household, see http://www.bikesa.asn.au/index.php the personal accident cover is provided by Cyclecover who are our PL insurers. As you will be aware this is not much more than our membership fee without personal accident cover ($60 individual, $95 family) .Given our problems with Cyclesafe/BV is it worth contacting them to whether we could offer our members this insurance too. We may possibly have to make it an integral part of our membership fees and may also not get such a good deal given our smaller membership base." Tony – "A Bicycle Victoria salesman rang me up… He was trying to get me to join BV for "just $13 extra"… Does anybody know what the added benefits are, and why one would join BV?" Andrew – note that Bike Transport Alliance (WA) are also considering offering personal accident cover; investigate whether we can cross subsidize membership fee to keep fees at same price for next year. Andrew – current single membership fees – BTA $75. Ambrose – was contacted by Kath Clifton, membership fulfilment coordinator, BV regards Cycle Safe personal accident insurance, they are phasing out this scheme, and recommending fitness2live subscription. She is also stating "Members of Bicycle Tasmania, can still get benefits of being a Bicycle Victoria member…" 9.2 BT Sign Andrew - Now we have a bit of spare cash maybe we should engage Dave Ross to make us a decent all weather BT sign? 9.3 BT Library Andrew - Now we are getting Australian Cyclists (from BFA) maybe we should start up a library at the Environment Centre? Have approached Sustainable Living Tasmania and they sound positive. 9.4 Kate Tamayo and Tour de Femme Naming Frank Tamayo – "It would certainly be my wish that if BT saw fit, the Tour de Femme carry Kate's name as a memorial for a few years. I recall Tim mentioned someone like the Cycling Promotion Fund was willing to contribute to some form of memorial, perhaps they could help sponsor TdF instead as I can't think of a more fitting way to remember Kate." 9.5 Donation for the Federal Election Campaign The BFA is planning to work with other cycling groups to undertake a major lobbying campaign leading up to the next Federal Election. As discussed at the Planning Meeting held before the AGM, we plan to focus on (a) Federal funding for cycling infrastructure and (b) Healthy and Active Routes to Schools (HEARTS). We plan to be working less on funded projects and more on advocacy in 2007, and so we need to find funds to make up for the reduction in project revenue. Tim has asked whether we make a donation. 9.6 BFA Representative David - There are two roles that someone from BT can be involved in with the BFA. The first role is as a delegate to the BFA. Each member association of BFA, such as BT, can nominate a delagate to the BFA. I am happy to continue as BT delegate to the BFA, assuming that this is acceptable to BT. The second role is as a committee member of the BFA. Any member of a member association of BFA can be on the BFA Committee, and until recently I had this role. At the recent BFA AGM held in Melbourne (which I did not attend), I did not re- nominate for the BFA ctte, primarily because of my impending job change. There is a vacancy on the BFA committee for a secretary, but at this point in time I am not prepared to commit the time that would be required by that role. This may change in the future. If an ordinary committee membership of the BFA became vacant, I would consider accepting that responsibility.
