Police Chief backs Ride2Work Day

The Chief Commissioner offered to be appointed a Ride2Work Ambassador for 2013 because he can see the advantages that riding to work gives his officers.

The Chief Commissioner also said that it was the responsibility all road users to take care around people who are riding bikes.

"You are vulnerable on a bike and so you rely on the good sense of the other people on the road to be alert and considerate," he said.

"When drivers are careful around bikes we know that not only are the people on bikes safe, but the additional care taken is also of benefit for all road users."

It would be nice to have Tasmania Police come out and say the same kind of things.
