This bike is in good working order with nearly new tyres and has been
regularly serviced. It has full Deore running gear. This is a medium
size frame but would suit a smaller person. $250.00.

SOLD
Bought new from the manufacturer in 2005 and well looked after since. It
is the smaller of the 2 frame sizes, has Carbon fibre forks and a mix
of Deore/Acera/ Tiagra running gear. It currently has Specilized
cyclocross-type tyres which are bombproof and good for touring but road
tyres are readily available. It folds into a suitcase or a soft bag -
both provided. These bikes are fast light and lots of fun. We are
rationalising our bike collection so it has to go.$950.00ono. |

Bicycle Tasmania is keen to support the
continuation of our monthly Family Ride events but our former leaders
have now moved on. The rides were enjoyed by families with beginning riders, tagalongs, tandems, trailers all taking part.
The rides are covered by our insurance and will be supported by us with advice, information and advertising.
Previously, the monthly rides were organised on Sunday mornings starting around 10am.
The favourite routes were,
-
Intercity Cycleway;
-
Pipeline Track (from Fern Tree or Neika to the Wellington Falls Track);
-
Eastern Shore (from Sunshine Tennis Club Howrah north to the Tasman bridge);
-
Eastern Shore (from the Tasman bridge north to Geilston Bay);
-
Tinderbox loop starting and finishing in Blackmans Bay;
-
Ranelagh to Judbury picnic ride (a Tim Stredwick special);
-
Cygnet Coast Road starting and finishing in January (good in Jan/Feb to buy blueberries)
-
Annual Bruny Island weekend tour
-
Easter at Deloraine
Numbers
on the rides could be up to 20-30. Normally an email is sent out
informing everybody of the next ride with a brief description of the
ride, and the leaders contact details.
The rides are conducted with a minimum of formality and plenty of stops with regular regrouping along the way.
Ian and Andy, our previous ride leaders, are happy to get others started with advice and information.
If you are prepared to volunteer to lead a ride periodically, just email to secretary@biketas.org.au and let's talk, | | | |

1970's/80's Raleigh road bike, 10 speed with black handle bar grip and all original paint job and most parts original. The
chain holding it was cut some time between 9am and 3pm on Monday 3rd
Sept. It was locked up in the bike racks at the School of Fine Arts
campus near the Entrepot gallery and art shop. The photo was
taken when i first bought the bike. It now has a panier rack and new
tail and head lights. There is also a tool kit bag attached under the
seat I reallllllllllyyyyyyyyy love this bike and I'm reallly upset at losing it. Please let me gus.mckay.00@gmail.com know if you have any information on its whereabouts and please share this with anyone you think could help. |

Jen(39) plans to be the first blind cyclist to ride a
tandem bike 18,000 km’s around Australia, leaving Hobart in April 2013.
She is looking for volunteers through the week and weekends
to get her out on the road and off the dining room trainer!
As she is not working at present, Jen is able to ride
during the day and would be very keen to clock up the training km’s with the
wind in her face, rather than just a fan!
Jen is aiming to raise $300,000, for a Lions Sight First
project, to help prevent and cure unnecessary blindness, particularly in
children.
“To be able to raise enough money to help give the “Gift of
Sight” to children and adults, so they too can treasure the beautiful world we
live in, brings a smile to my face, and is a gift which can never be described
in words.”
She is currently capable of riding 60 – 80 km’s, daily, but
is keen to build back up to last summer’s distances of 500 - 600 km’s per week
by the end of the year.
Please email cycleforsight@westnet.com.au, or contact, Bike Ride
(Liverpool St,) Tassie Cycles (New Town) or The Bike Shop, (Derwent Park) for
further information. [photo in article below is by Carmel Johnston]

The
pink lady’s bike (which featured in Bicycle Tasmania enews in January) was lent
to a newly arrived student from Italy. A week later it was stolen from her
house in North Hobart. With white bar tape and Ricardo on the forks, this is a
distinctive bike. If you spot her, please contact president@biketas.org.au |
