
At Salamanca Place starting point ride around dock area to the beginning of the Intercity Cycle Way for the 9.5 km ride to King George V football oval where there is a crossing over the rail that takes you through the football-oval car park to Anfield St. Anfield St runs between the KGV oval and the Glenorchy Swimming Pool. Cross Grove Road with care and continue ahead to the end of Anfield St. Activate traffic lights for crossing the Brooker Highway to the Derwent Entertainment Centre’s car park.
Ride through the Derwent Entertainment Centre’s car park, with the water on your left, following the service road in a sweep until it connects at a T junction with the Elwick Racecourse on your right and Dowsings Point Army Barracks on your left. Ride over Bowen Bridge.
Continue on the same road as the Bowen Bridge to Risdon Cove Reserve then cycle past Risdon Brook Water Reserve entrance near the roundabout at the intersection of Derwent and East Derwent Highway.
Carry on to Grass Tree Hill and Richmond bakery.
At Richmond turn north (left) on the Campania Road to Campania Village.
Leaving Campania village return back along the road 1 km to the Tea Tree Road.
Take Tea Tree and on to Pontville. Watch for side road sign right to Pontville towards end of this section. This slip road of about 3km will take you over a ford to Pontville. To make this ride 100 km proceed a further 6 km north to the turning point on the Midland Highway; the ‘Bagdad’ road sign. Return to Pontville and on to Brighton Bakery.
Cross the River Derwent at Bridgewater for the return to Salamanca Place by way of the ‘old road’ via Claremont, Berriedale and Derwent Entertainment Centre. The ‘old road’ to Claremont is immediately after crossing the rail line.
At the point where on the outward crossing the Brooker Highway took place, opposite the Derwent Entertainment Centre, cross again with traffic lights.
Retrace to the Intercity Cycle Way between the Glenorchy City Swimming Pool and KGV football oval for the run back along The Intercity Cycle Way to Hobart City and Salamanca Place for the finish.
Salamanca via Bowen Bridge and Richmond to Campania 40 km.
Salamanca to Pontville 58 km.
Salamanca to apex of Midlands Highway extension north of Pontville 64 km.
The apex, 6 km north from Pontville, is the road sign that says “Bagdad.” Retrace to Pontville. Salamanca to Salamanca via above plus Brighton, Bridgewater, Claremont, Berriedale, Derwent Entertainment Centre and your preferred route to finish 100 km.
Fuelling stops are Valhalla Ice-cream at Moonah, Richmond Bakery and Brighton Bakery.
