State Bike Week wraps up!
State Bike Week was a great success last week, with riders coming together around the State to celebrate their love of riding.
The week encompassed a number of events in the south including Ride2School, Kingborough Treasure Hunt, Women on Wheels (WoW) and Cycling Sunday. In the northwest Keith Price ran a stall at Wynyard market promoting bike riding but the thing which created most interest were the two e-bikes! In the north TBUG arranged a number of rides.
Cycling Sunday saw hundreds of riders from across Southern Tasmania come together in a fantastic day of riding. We couldn't have asked for better weather - while it was a little cool, once the sun turned up it was a great day. It was great to have Team Velowear helping out on the Century Ride as our roadie ambassadors.
Here's our week in a few numbers: 34 kiddies in the Kingborough Treasure Hunt, 47 women riders in WoW, 300 muesli bars distributed, 65 new members joined, 6 bike shops visited, 1,000 metres climbed and 1 Peaks Challenge Cradle Mountain ticket won by a lucky rider!
We'd like to extend a special thank you to all the volunteers who put in an amazing effort throughout the week. We couldn't have done it without your support. And thanks to Clarence Council (especially to Alderman Von Bertouch) for their sponsorship and assistance on the two consecutive Sundays.
Here are our photos from WoW.
Stay tuned for the photos from Cycling Sunday.
