Bike Week Closes in a Sea of Success
Ten days after opening at the magnificent State Cinema, Tasmania's biggest Bike Week came to a close with hundreds of riders turning out for Bicycle Tasmania's Cycling Sunday.
Led by an ambitious rides committee, this year's Cycling Sunday was truly a celebration of all things cycling with Avanti Plus, Bike Ride, Ride Bellerive, Clarence Council and Hobart Bike Polo at hand offering bike services, demonstrations, and games.
Riders of all ages, skill levels and abilities embarked on the Century Ride (106km), the Two Thirds Century (65km), a Relaxed Ride (20km), Mountain Bike Ride, and the Treasure Hunt Ride.
Cycling Sunday is an opportunity to promote bicycling and demonstrate how easily bicycling can be part of everyday life. Whether for commuting, recreation or both, Tasmanian Bike Week 2014 validated the growing value and role of bicycling in our communities.
Thank you to our wonderful partner, the Royal Hobart Hospital for their support and co-ordination of the Treasure Hunt Ride; and of course thank you to all those that came out for Cycling Sunday and other Bike Week events across Tasmania, and to the volunteers that made Bike Week possible.
