Background
The foreshore trail has proven to be a hit with Council, visitors and residents alike. Clarence City Council have been proactive in allocating resources to the trail and it's proven to be a largely uncontroversial and popular project. Well used both weekdays and weekends, it winds around the eastern shore along the waterfront. There are spectacular views up and down the river as well as across the mountain and western shore.
Various parts of the Trail have been upgraded or installed over the last few years, including:
- Alexandra Esplanade Pathway, which was constructed in 2012
- Bellerive Beach Section of path, upgraded at Beach Street end in 2011
- Victoria Esplanade Pathway constructed in 2007
The Master Plan developed for Bellerive Beach Park also includes upgrading the shared pathway to avoid some of the conflict around car parks and generally upgrade it for the large number of users on feet, paws and wheels.
