Cruisy North East Tas camping tour

A small group of Hobart-based camping touring enthusiasts is planning a cruisy tour in North East Tasmania.  We'll take in Scottsdale, the North East Recreation Trail, Bridport, Boobyalla and Derby.

There’s an extended 5 day option for people of leisure (Friday 17 – Tuesday 21 August) and a shortened 3 day option for the workers amongst us (Friday 17 – Sunday 19 August).

Camping will be at campgrounds and once on a private property. Most nites allow for eating out at nearby hotels or the like. Some of us like mostly eating out, while others also enjoy doing their own thing around the camp site.

The pace will be cruisy, we’re rarely in a hurry once on tour and we’re prone to being side-tracked by views, cafes, interesting people and stray animals.

Riding will be mostly on a mix of black-top and gravel roads.

Vehicles will be left at a safe place in Scottsdale. For those who take the short option there’ll be a car shuffle to have a vehicle for them where they leave the trip.

Enthusiastic newcomers to camping cycle touring are welcome. We’re happy to help with advice, can also help with some gear including racks, pannier bags and camping gear. We may also have a spare bike or two in the garage.

Daily distances 35-60 km, mostly around 50 km. Max group size 6-9.

If you could be interested in joining please make contact with Andreas before booking  (please contact by email  andreas@ahack.org) and by Monday 13 August at the latest.
