Happiness Cycle, Moonah
The Happiness Cycle program is all about helping local 15 and 16 year olds to live a sustained more healthy and active lifestyle by getting them on brand new bikes that they build themselves!
Here’s some info on the Bicycle Network website about the program: https://www.bicyclenetwork.com.au/general/programs/378/. You can register for the Happiness Cycle there too.
This event at Moonah is the first Happiness Cycle event to be held in Tasmania. Bicycle Network is working in collaboration with the Glenorchy City Council to bring this opportunity to young people in this area.
Although the event runs for a full day, there will be two separate sessions of about 4-5 hours. The first session starts at 9am.
Bicycle Network Tasmania is looking for volunteers to help out with running the event and to help the kids to put their bikes together. We're looking for people who might be available for the morning, or for the whole day, to help to run the event (several basically admin roles, welcoming the kids and checking them in and out etc) OR to help the kids to put their bikes together.
Now, only basic bike mechanical skills are required, as we will receive training on the day. There will be instructions provided, and a briefing session. So if you have advanced bike maintenance or repair skills that you are willing to share, that would be terrific. Or if you have only basic skills and would like to brush them up, this is actually a good opportunity.
Volunteers will need to be at the Moonah Sports Stadium at 8am to participate in the training. If you can only spare the morning, that's OK. If you can spare the whole day (to about 4.30pm), that would be fantastic.
Pls send your responses to Di at [email protected], and we'll put you on the list!
