Healthy Women Ride - Afternoon on the ICC
Women, let's make an afternoon of it this year! Join us at 12.30 for an easy roll along the InterCity Cycleway, from the Brooke St Pier to Granton and back again for coffee (or perhaps a beer or wine). We're celebrating Womens Health Week (WHW) 2018. WHW is an annual national event that the Jean Hailes Foundation organises, dedicated to encouraging women across Australia to make good health a priority. Bicycle Network is the major community partner of the Jean Hailes Foundation Women’s Health Week 2018.
Led by Kathy Singline, and supported by Matt Drake, this is a good ride for riders of all levels of experience, and any sort of bike is OK. All bikes, all riders. Pace will be averaging 15-20 km/hr.
It is an easy total 40km flat ride (out and back) on smooth surfaces, almost all of it separate from the road on the ICC (there are several road crossings) until Claremont. After that, we'll use the onroad bikelanes along Main Road as we head towards Granton. Suits riders of any age, most fitness levels and all kinds of bikes. It is safe, level, and will last about two hours. 1-B-40. Map of the ride.
Pls register by RSVP'ing below. This is a Free ride, so bring a friend for even more fun!
Meet at Brooke St Pier, Franklin Wharf at 12:15am, to commence the ride at 12:30pm.
You can find more information about Bicycle Network Tasmania's Social Rides Program here, including an explanation of the ride descriptor codes.
Our fortnightly In The Loop email newsletter gives a heads'up on scheduled rides. You can register here if you don't already receive In The Loop - make sure you tick: "Advocacy - campaigns and programs".
Bicycle Network Tasmania makes every effort to ensure our organised rides are safe, however participants are advised to ensure they have insurance against accidents. The best option is to become a member of Bicycle Network. This ensures you have excellent year-round 24/7 cover against both Personal Injury and Third Party Personal/Property damage whilst riding your bike.
Please note - if there are any riders under 16 years old, the adult with them will take primary responsibility for their safety on the ride.
