Background
The proposed North West Coastal Pathway when complete is planned to connect the communities of the North West Coast of Tasmania from Wynyard to Latrobe, covering approximately 110 km of shared walking / cycling pathways. There are a range of requirements for each section, with several excellent facilities complete and beingwell used. For other sections the connection is not obvious and will require further planning before the desired facility is identified.
The path will be attractive to cycle tourists, given that it links from the Spirit of Tasmania ferry terminal in Devonport. However, the main audience is local traffic, with the coast providing a flat and direct connection between many major trip generators and attractors on the coast.
