Want to be one of our Social Ride Leaders?
Last year we launched our very own Social Rides Program. A dozen experienced riders enjoyed our first ride leaders' skills workshop in September 2016, and since then a good program of regular and occasional rides has evolved. In the first year of the program we have led almost forty social rides, which riders of all abilities have enjoyed. It is now a lot easier to get together with friendly fellow riders and to meet new people on rides that suit your skills and interests.
Details of our Social Rides are published via our Events webpage and are promoted to members and supporters via our Facebook and Twitter channels, and people can also subscribe to a fortnightly email alert of upcoming rides.
Want to be a Ride Leader?
Our Social Rides are led by accreditted Ride Leaders. If you would like to be one of them, that's great!
We are looking for experienced riders who are keen to contribute to building the riding community by leading groups of riders on regular or ad hoc social rides. If that's you, you can be accreditted by attending one of our Social Ride Leaders' Skills Workshops.
Our second Social Ride Leaders Skills Development Workshop will be held in Hobart on Sunday 20 November, 9am to 2pm.
It's free, and lunch will be included. It will be a mixture of information sharing and practical skills training, including practising on-bike skills and leading a group ride. The workshop is open to all experienced and enthusiastic riders, although please note that Bicycle Network members will be prioritised if numbers are tight. You will need to bring a bike (and a helmet), but if that is difficult let us know and we should be able to provide you with one for the day.
Email Di at firstname.lastname@example.org with your contact details, the sorts of rides you might be interested in leading, and whether or not you are a Bicycle Network member.
If you already have Ride Leader certification through another organisation, please register your interest in leading rides here and drop a line to Di at email@example.com with details of your accreditation. We can walk you through the details of our Social Rides program and get you started. You are also welcome to attend our Ride Leader Skills workshop if you'd like to brush up your skills.
