Taste patrons are catching on!
Sally Wayte, our Valet Parking Coordinator, reports that the number of bikes parked at this year's Taste was well up on previous years. Our excellent volunteers parked 572 bikes, at an average of 82 per day, and with a record number of 141 bikes parked with us on 2nd January.
Also, given there was some media kerfuffle about apparently increased car parking difficulties and traffic congestion around the waterfront, it is nice that Hobart City Council is able to point to a viable and successful alternative which it already offers to Taste patrons. We recommend that Council promote this service more strongly in future.
Our friendly volunteers take good care of the precious bikes left with us, but not many people know that we also park prams for families, backpacks for tourists, and even skateboards. There is no other service offering this sort of personalised assistance to the public at the Taste. Our helpful volunteers add greatly to the Taste experience for many holidaymakers.
