Ride the Peloton Train to the Taste
This new addition to the Taste of Tasmania program has its inaugural run on New Year's Day 2015. Organised jointly by the Taste of Tasmania and Bicycle Network Tasmania, this ride is designed for family groups with children and for people new to riding. The pace will be easy, the surface is concrete, it is almost all flat, and there will be experienced riders available to assist riders.
The ride will leave Claremont at 10.30am. We will ride down the Intercity Cycleway (ICC), stopping along the cycleway to pick up more “passengers” at eight “train stations” along the way. Each stop will be for a few minutes (perhaps slightly longer at Station St Park, Moonah, where there will be some extra goodies to be provided). Riders can join the Peloton Train at any of the "train stations" along the route. The total distance from Claremont to the Taste is 14.6km.
The Peloton Train will stop at:
1. (Start) Box Hill Rd / ICC intersection 10.30am
2. Berriedale Rd / ICC Intersection 10.45am
3. Opposite KG V Park on ICC 11.00am
4. Derwent Park Rd 11.15am
5. Station St Park 11.30am
6. Cornelian Bay / Queens Walk 11.45am
7. Botanical Gardens 12.00pm
8. Cenotaph 12.15pm
9. BNT Bike Valet Parking at the Taste 12.30pm
Each stop will be marked with balloons etc and there may be a volunteer there to greet riders.
For insurance purposes all riders will be required to sign-on to the ride and to also provide a gold coin donation to BNT.
It may be hot, so riders are encouraged to bring enough water for the ride.
