Rider of the Week #29
Brendan has worked for Australia Post for quite a while, and previously delivered mail by postie bike (the Honda 110cc motorbikes you've probably seen zooming around).
His electric bike weighs 40kg and can carry 30kg of mail, more than the load allowed for a motorbike! which allows him to do his rounds with only one return trip to the post office. Brendan says the electric bike gets him up the hills on his Glenorchy route without any problems. He said his is the only electric bicycle delivering mail in Tasmania so far, but Australia Post are considering more of them as part of their 'clean and green' policy.

The baskets are pretty heavily built. The motor and battery weigh a fair bit too. Sorry but forgot to ask what brand the bike was!

The extra weight of the bike must be due to the metal basket on the front? What brand is the bike?

A job that pays you to ride, great to see! I think the Council’s parking inspectors could look to get around on something similar.
