Rosny pathway connections coming along
The path near Rose Bay High on Rosny Hill Road is the next stage of the Tasman Bridge to Airport cycling route, and this section will also have a pathway connecting through to Rosny Park.
Clarence Council is currently making the final connections in the shared pathway connection between Rosny College and the Rosny Park CBD.
The routes and the progress of the work are well described on the Cycling South website:
The pathway above the new Tasman Bridge works has been completed, and now the new connections to the east are being built.
A local rider recently let us know that it looked like a new kerb ramp on one side of the access road was complete but there was a new vertical kerb on the other side of the road. WTF?!? was the question.
We asked Cycling South's Mary McParland, and it turned out she also rides there and had also noticed the problem. She followed up with the Council's traffic engineer and advises that the contractors found difficulties with underground services and had to build the vertical kerb as a temporary measure while other features are constructed. They will be constructing steps up the embankment for Rose Bay High students and afterwards the path will be finished with a kerb ramp.
This is a good example of how riders can spot problems early and alert the authorities in case a mistake has been made.
REMINDER: if you see something that looks wrong or out of place, please contact Council directly and cc us at Bicycle Network Tasmania.
