Sandy Bay Commute
An introduction to the Sandy Bay commuter route.
We follow the Sandy Bay Road bike lane/path to Marieville Esplanade. After crossing the Sandy Bay Rivulet, we avoid Napoleon Street and head up Bath Street – which is a little kinder, if still a pulse-raiser. We follow the City of Hobart cycling route (which is signed) through Battery Point, and into the city centre.
This ride is great for those who are confident on their bike, but wanting some support to get into commuting. It’s also suited to those who are new to the area and want to get to know the (slightly confusing) bike route, or those who just want some company for their morning commute, to celebrate bike week! E-bikes welcome.
Map. 3-B-7.6. The roads are sealed. A mix of on-road and off-road bike paths and quiet streets.
Your Ride Leaders are Pippa Williams and Michael Haynes.
Meet at Truganini track carpark, 1 Channel Highway, Taroona. At 7.15am, to commence the ride at 7.30am.
