Women on Wheels (just gotta) Have Fun
The weather was kinder this year than last, and 63 eager riders, women and girls of all ages, gathered in Wentworth Park for this year's Kate Tamayo Women on Wheels event. After registering -
Quite a few took advantage of some free bike checks and tune-ups provided by Stuart and Joel from Ken Self Cycles.
Emma and Sharon gave the pre-ride briefings.
Then we were off, with Sally as our excellent ride leader.
The route utilised the pleasant offroad Clarence Foreshore trail -
And some onroad sections. Clarence St was a bit hairy, and some of us switched to the footpath to protect ourselves. Some bikelanes along here are well overdue.
You're bound to find a photo of you and your friends on the ride in this collection of lovely photos taken by Robert on the day. Or in this nice collection taken by Peter. Or this selection by Austin.
Thanks to Mary McParland for designing the route, to Clarence Council for providing a yummy lunch, and to Ken Self Cycles for their technical help and for the show bags. Thanks to Greg and Peter, who did excellent work as our (police-mandated) advance and rear advisory cars, and Jeff, who buzzed around with the Bike Tas bike trailer, putting out and collecting the route signs.
